The elected executive committee in the General Assembly for the 2024-2028 period is structured in the following way:

 

 

Raúl Henríquez

President

He finished his undergraduate studies in University of El Savador (UES), and then he finished his masters in Astrophysics with an emphasis in computation in University of La Laguna in Spain. After that he completed his PhD. in physical sciences with specialty in cosmology in the "Universidad Autónoma de Chiapas" in Mexico. He is currently a professor and researcher in the Faculty of Maths and Natural Sciences in UES. His field of research if cosmological numerical simulations.

Miguel Rojas

Vice President

Graduated from B.Sc. Physics and M.Sc. Astrophysics at the University of Costa Rica. Miguel is a PhD student at the University of Glasgow. His research focuses on studying the solar chromosphere during flares, using data from space missions such as IRIS and SDO. He has been involved in international projects and the organization of scientific events, including the Latin American Olympiad of Astronomy and Astronautics, where he served as president. Additionally, he has experience in university teaching and science outreach at the Costa Rica Institute of Technology (TEC).

Edwin Santiago-Leandro

Vocal I

Graduated of Physics at the University of Costa Rica. He is currently pursuing his PhD. in Astrophysics at the "Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica, Óptica y Electrónica" (INAOE), in Mexico. He has worked on gravitational lensing projects, and his main field of research is hydrodynamical simulations and black hole binary systems. He has also taught introductory physics courses at the University of Costa Rica.

Diana López

Vocal II

Panamanian physicist. After earning her Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Panama, she continued her studies and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Astrophysics at the University of Bonn, Germany. Her research experience includes studying molecular masers as tracers of angular momentum in massive protostars, a project conducted in collaboration with Western Illinois University, USA. Beyond her academic pursuits, she is involved in educational initiatives and space science outreach projects in Central America and the region.

Fabián Quesada-Zúñiga

Vocal III

Costa rican Astrophycicist and current PhD. student in the "Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica, Óptica y Electrónica" (INAOE). My main field of research is astrophysics of the interstellar medium and star forming regions. Graduated from physics in the University of Costa Rica and from the Masters in Science with emphasis in Astrophysics in INAOE.
